Broadway-Caliber Theater in a Spectacular Setting

As the most honored theatre in Colorado with eight Henry Awards, Theatre Aspen brings professional Broadway actors and premier local talent to the heart of the Rockies. Throughout the year, the organization offers a dynamic calendar ranging from the acclaimed Summer Series in the spectacular Hurst Theatre tent at Rio Grande Park to year-round youth education programs and new play development festivals. Whether you are visiting for a mainstage musical or a seasonal showcase, Theatre Aspen delivers world-class storytelling in an incomparable mountain setting.

Spring 2026 Event Calendar (March – May)

March 2026: Youth Education & Summer Prep

  • Broadway Adventures: Every Wednesday in March (March 4, 11, 18, 25), Theatre Aspen hosts "Under the Sea" at Aspen Elementary. These after-school creative programs for grades K-4 focus on theatre games and storytelling, culminating in a family showcase.
  • Summer Program Enrollment: March is the primary window for registration and auditions for the 2026 Summer Camps, including upcoming youth productions of The Little Mermaid Jr. and Something Rotten!

April 2026: Creative Development & Community Partnerships

  • Solo Flights Submission Deadline: On April 10, 2026, the window closes for the Solo Flights developmental festival. While the festival of one-person shows takes place in September, the selection of the year’s most innovative new works happens this month.
  • Aspen Shortsfest (April 7–11): Theatre Aspen frequently collaborates with community partners like Aspen Film during this week, as the town buzzes with international storytellers and cinematic artists.

May 2026: The Secret Season & Student Showcases

  • "Time Travelers" Showcase: The spring education season concludes on May 20, 2026, with a special performance by local students. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the talent of the next generation before the professional summer season kicks off.
  • Memorial Day Weekend Kickoff: As the Hurst Theatre tent begins its transformation in Rio Grande Park for the summer, May visitors can enjoy the quiet charm of Aspen’s "Secret Season" while the theatre prepares for its June opening night.
