The 35th Annual Aspen Shortsfest returns to the heart of the Rockies from April 7–11, 2026. As one of only a few Oscar®-qualifying festivals in the United States strictly dedicated to short films, this landmark edition celebrates over three decades of bold, boundary-pushing storytelling.

2026 Festival Highlights:

• Global Talent: With a record number of entries from around the world, the festival showcases the finest in animation, comedy, drama, and documentary filmmaking.
• 35-Second Challenge: In honor of the 35th anniversary, the "Independent By Nature" video challenge invites creators to tell a story in just 35 seconds, with winners announced during the festival.
• Oscar® Qualification: Winners in several categories—including Animation, Comedy, and Drama—become eligible for Academy Award® consideration.
• Pass Access: Festival passes grant entry to all film programs, along with exclusive panels, parties, and networking events throughout the week.
